A huge thank you to Terry Duckmanton for sharing these incredible photos from 1961, offering a fascinating glimpse into our school’s history.
Terry recalls:
“Many years ago, I was a pupil at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School for Boys, Mansfield. In July 1961, a photographer visited with what I now believe to be a Horizont panoramic camera. This motorised device slowly panned from left to right, capturing a truly wide-format photograph of the entire school. My original print measures 14cm high by 106cm wide!”
Terry has carefully digitised the photo into 10 sections, making it easier to spot familiar faces. If you attended QEGS in 1961, you might just find yourself in one of these snapshots from the past!
QEA has been at the heart of the Mansfield community since 1561, and we love sharing these special glimpses into the past of our rich history.
